I attended a workshop today led by a very respected woman in education from Winnipeg. Her name is Sandra Herbst. I have heard her speak at least 6 times and always leave with learning and new tools and strategies to use in my classroom. Here are a few take aways from my day of learning.
I am home sick today, so decided to recycle a photo that I found last year. It is an import at image that shows why it is important to read everyday, especially in a 2nd language! This week we are working hard on the Foundational Skills Assessment. We have completed the reading and writing component and are starting the numeracy part tomorrow. We are almost done... We are working on learning about Ancient Greece. There are many different parts to our themed projects, ask your child about what he/she is learning. We had a great Brain day today! We did some learning about the brain and had many students come to our class and learn about Mindset. I am exhausted.....I bet your child is too! Our reading buddies came to our class today to test run our activities for tomorrow's brain day. They had fun, even if it was a bit chaotic! This is how we started our morning meeting this morning with a hula hoop activity to wake us up... Then it turned into a hula hoop contest! You just never know what the Monkeys will get up to! Ha! As a part of our genius hour project, these two girls organized a bake sale for the Mae Bacher Animal Shelter. They raised 445$ that they delivered to the shelter today. Bravo!!! |
