Yesterday we planted our garden! Everyone worked hard and had a part in planting our plot and another one for a woman who is out of town. Drop by to check it out if you can-#53!
We made salsa frescos today during our second Spanish class. It was very yummy. The recipe is above (in Spanish!). Enjoy!
Today was a fun day! We attended Madame Janine's grade 6 math fair.
And....a botanist came to our class to talk to us about plants!
The Monkeys had a lot of fun in their reading buddies class today. A couple of the Monkeys made a tall tower, a couple made marble runs and some drew picture with their buddies. (Written by Ewan)
We did a taste test today. Madame Sofie brought in a cucumber from the store and one that was given to her from a greenhouse. We observed them, smelled them and tasted them to guess which one was locally grown. 18 students guessed right! Bravo!
The Monkeys have started to work at the Community Garden. We will soon be planting our broccoli, cauliflower, lettuce and other vegetables soon. Our first job for the community garden was to paint the covers for rain barrels. (written by Ewan with some help from Madame Sofie)
The Monkeys nasturtiums are starting to bud! We will be selling some at the talent show on May 30th. All proceeds will go to Little Footprints Big Steps in Haiti. (Written by Ewan)
Look at the signs we have painted for the garden! Lovely, aren't they? And bilingual!
We will be going for our first trip and tour of the downtown community garden on Wednesday, May 22. If you are interested in joining us, please let Madame Sofie know. Francophone countries day was a success!!! We all had fun and learned lots too! (I'm exhausted. I'm sure your child is too.)
