This is what the seedlings look like before our 4 day weekend. We are looking forward to seeing how much they have grown on Tuesday morning!
The seedlings are growing! Every day we are excited to see what has grown and how much they have grown. We are keeping a journal and tracking observations.
Above, you will notice students measuring the growth of some of our plants. We are doing a project on child rights, and
the class had a choice between different novels with child rights issues. You may have already seen the choices, but each book contains difficult challenges. This week we're giving a fictional award to the character, who toke action, and made the most difference. In these pictures, you will find groups based on which book they have read. We are writing down who the individual is, and why we think he/she deserve this special award. (Written by Celeste) Last week was Canada Water Week. We only just celebrated it today, by having some visitors talking about " I Love My Waterbody". We acted as if we where on an alien planet, and were in need of water. But how do we know what's water? We did a bunch of tests, and after, we made a chart on the the whiteboard, writing down all the results. Don't worry parents! All the experiments where done with gloves and googles. We are planting plants in our class. We planted broccoli, cauliflower and nasturtiums. We are keeping a journal on how much our plants grow. Our broccoli is growing the fastest. All of our 23 broccolis have sprouted, 2 of our 13 cauliflowers have sprouted but none of our 72 nasturtiums have sprouted yet. (Written by Manas)
We did our first book club meeting today based on the books we read during Spring break. We had hot chocolate or tea.
We are currently working on creating our very own journals. We will use them to chart, sketch, write and draw in related to our gardening. It is hard work, but something to be proud of when we are done!
Yesterday we planted our first seeds. We planted nasturtiums, broccoli and cauliflower. Now we are waiting patiently to see if they grow!
We are working on our portfolios for the second term. There are different categories like work we are proud of and work that we don't like. The writing on the board is a brainstorm of all the stuff we did this last term. (Written by Manas)
