This may have been the 11th annual Maurice's Monkeys Halloween Fun House at WES. Everyone worked hard and had fun, mostly the kindergarten and grade 1 classes that attended. Bravo!
More novel projects presentations were done today. So far all students have put a lot of effort into their projects and their presentations. Bravo! More to come. Another successful chemistry experience was completed today using a red cabbage solution. We used it as an indicator for testing lemon juice, orange juice, mouthwash and baking soda. Chemical reactions occurred which enabled us to determine if they were acidic or alkaline (base). We had our first novel project presentations today. As always they were interesting, creative as well as yummy and funny! Today we enjoyed out first Mystery Skype. It was an exciting experience! We skyped with a grade 5 French Immersion class from Grimsby, Ontario. In order to find out where they live, we asked them a series of yes/no answers. They did the same to figure out where we live. We learned a lot of things today. We realize that pinpointing a city in Ontario is difficult since there are so many! We also realized the importance of working as a group as well as being good detectives by asking specific questions. We are going to try Mystery Skype again with another class in the near future. Yesterday we separated the ink from different black pens using chromatography. Today we used our knowledge of chromatography and explored with different materials and colour during our art class. Today we practised our knowledge of integers by playing a math game called Roller Coaster. We were doing math and having fun! The deadline for our English novel project is fast approaching. Students are seen here working hard to complete their work. Next week we will be presenting our projects . Experiment #2 was a success! We observed the chemical reactions between baking soda, oil and vinegar. We created mini lava lamps. It was lots of fun! We did our first science experience today related to properties of matter. It was fun playing with slime! |
