We had a successful 3rd Genius Hour today. We worked hard and learned new things on our last day of school before the break! Bravo!
Our French monitor, Berangere, organized a French movie for us this afternoon. It was called La guerre des tuques, a classic Québécois movie. No photo today. I forgot my devices at home. (And survived!) We did play a game similar to Bderdash but instead we tried guessing the first sentence of a novel. It was fun and a great way to do some creative writing. Also, we are planning our 3rd Genius Hour on Friday. Please drop by if you can anytime from 10:45-11:45 or between 1:30 and 2:30 to see some learning in action! We shared the stories we write from some wordless picture books. It was a fun writing activity and we enjoyed listening to the stories. There were some very good fees rioting and vocabulary. It is evident these students read a lot in English. Our math problem of the week had many frustrated today. The students needed to find the original order of 10 cards. Ask them, they will be happy to share! Can you see some Xmas felt decorations in our tree? We will be selling them next week at the concert night. There will also be other ornaments as well as coffee and treats. All proceeds will be given to Little Footprints, Big Steps a Haitian organization. We continued to meet today to chat about French novels. We prepared discussion questions and enjoyed some good conversations. We will continue working on these next week. We used wordless (or almost) books today to practice our inferring skills. Then, in groups or alone, we write out the stories we believed were happening in the images. It was a fun activity! Zack found an interesting TedEd talk about what we have been learning in math. It is called The Infinite Life of Pi. We all learned a lot while watching. To view, try the link below. http://ed.ted.com/lessons/the-infinite-life-of-pi-reynaldo-lopes# We shared our Genius Hour learning today. There were some very interesting topics such as optical illusions, 3D art, transplants, concussions, creating a charity, hockey and what make a video go viral. We are still working on how to share our learning as we don't always have to make a poster! |
