Today, we worked on needle felting with artist Sheila Alexandrovich.The needle felting was used on sheep wool to make art that is for the school. Our job today was doing the outlining to make it stand out.
Maurice's Monkeys are so close to finishing their games!! We have Mr Timon (the expert) in the class to help out. French speaking country day is Thursday. We can't wait to show all the classes how hard we have worked for our class to look appropriate for Thursday. Manas drew the Haitian flag and Jarod put the flag on the red and blue poster board. Today we had a presentation by a French author, Andrée Poulin, from Québec. We read a few books before her arrival and enjoyed them quite a bit. She gave us another book for our classroom library that Madame Sofie will read to us soon.
Today we went downtown for hunger awareness week and handed out apples and cards to people of Whitehorse. There was a raffle for a trip to Edmonton,Vancouver and Calgary and 1000 dollars spending money. It was a lot of fun for us- we even got apples! ( Written by Andrew)
Today we look forward to French Countries Day on May 16. We are working on games of trivia related to language and culture, the natural disaster in Haiti, organizations who help and the country. Those are the groups who work on this project. (Written by Andrew)
Today we got a visit from Morgan Weinberg for our project about Haiti. She told us about Haiti and its poverty and how one person can make a difference in a community. (Written by Andrew)
We had a visitor in class today- Madame Sofie's son, Gabriel! Gabe's school was closed today so he spent the day with all of us. Everyone had lots of fun! The Monkeys were all very gentle and responsible when interacting with Gabe. Bravo!
Today we were working on our science project. Mr. Timon helped us to get our plans for our games ready. We have to make a game about Haiti, but it has to include electricity. Everybody is very excited to put our games together!
